Project Lead Profile

The project leader is responsible for realising a (part) project. The project leader works under supervision of a project manager, or independently in projects that are mono-disciplinary or of a more routine nature, or for which standards are available. The projects are smaller (in relation to budget), less (politically) complex and less strategic than the projects for which a project manager is responsible.

Tasks

  • Writes the business case(s), the project letter and PID and/or support this
  • Arranges the project organization
  • Operationally manages the project team
  • Monitors project’s content and limits, as well as budget
  • Responsible for fine attunement to customers, suppliers and internal parties (such as purchase), monitors the progress and takes corrective measures
  • Reports by means of and on phases to the project manager, and in case of smaller projects, directly to the steering committee and is responsible for final approval before the next project phase starts
  • Assesses and weighs risks, time and money against change proposals for the project which could offer benefits or savings, but could also threaten the project’s success
  • Actively identifies extra work surrounding the project and supports the commercial department in acquiring new orders
  • Maintains contacts that could influence the project, on all levels both inside and outside the project limits, with the aim to realize the project.

  • Is able to maintain contacts efficiently in an external and internal network.
  • Is able to inspire and motivate people.
  • Knows how to translate the requirements of the customer and the business into concrete solutions.
  • Ability to handle the complexity of supplier contracts and management.
  • Able to recognize his/the team’s lack of knowledge and skills and to adjust education accordingly.
